Version 1.14 15 February 1995 - Fixed a bug that could cause a bad port address to be used if the address wasn't specified on the command line. Version 1.13 02 February 1995 - Modified the command line parameters to allow for non-standard com port addresses and IRQs. The new command line is: GE3CP p a$
i Address and IRQ parameters are optional, port parameter is required. If you don't need the new options, the only way this change will affect you is the need to put a 'p' in front of your port number when running GECP 1.13. Version 1.12 14 July 1994 - Changed cloak commands to support the CLOAK ON/CLOAK OFF format of GE V3.2d. The CLOAK indicator will come on as soon as the cloaking device starts charging. - Added logging to a file. Alt-K,L toggles logging. When logging is active, all incoming text is appended to the file GE3CP.LOG. Version 1.11 05 Sep 1993 - Fixed the bug that prevented non-registered users from flying manually. - Modified the control lock, by popular demand. When GECP starts, it will remain unlocked (ALL commands functional) for 15 minutes. After that time, it will return to its original behavior, with advanced commands locked if the user is not registered. An unregistered user will have to exit GECP and re-run it to regain full functionality. Version 1.10 30 Aug 1993 - Major overhaul of the program to support the new Galactic Empire V3.x. See the manual for details on all the 3.x-related features. Since the layout of the galaxy was completely changed between GE 2.x and GE 3.x, this version will not work with GE 2.x and earlier versions will not work with GE 3.x. If you play on a BBS that is running a version of Galactic Empire earlier than 3.0, use GECP V1.03. - Named the various files as GE3CP.* in order to emphasize their use with Galactic Empire V3.x and distinguish them from the files for the old version. - In order to have more room on-screen to display vital information, this version runs in EGA 43-line mode or VGA 50-line mode. CGA and monochrome displays are not supported. - Added a few more gizmos. The gizmos now display in the upper center of the status window. - Removed the message encryption system. It was fairly unreliable, largely useless, and for the most part only used to make other players paranoid. It was also next to impossible to make work without fixed ship letters. - Expanded all User-ID routines to handle the new, longer ID's used by The Major BBS V6.x. - Modified Alt-U to scan a user-definable number of ships, where that number is set in the configuration screen (Ctrl-2). - Alt-M now uses only one flux pod, since GE V3.x only uses flux equal to 1/10 of the missile load. The missile load is now user-configurable. - Made GECP update your ship name when it sees "Your ship is now..." instead of waiting until you do a REP command. (Why didn't I think to do this a year ago?) - Discovered a bug related to high-speed communications. Please see the warning in the "Installation and Use" section of the docs. - Discovered (or created) and squished more bugs than I can possibly list in this document.
